Protection from HEAD to toe

North Safety – one of the exhibitors at Noshcon – has given the event the thumbs up. “We were very happy with the way it went and we benefited hugely from our participation in the expo,” says Jay van Rensburg, National Operations manager of North Safety.

North Safety Products Africa (NSPA), with its head office in Pinetown and branches and representatives all over South Africa, also supplies personal protection and safety equipment products to Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Mauritius.

“As one of South Africa’s leading designers, manufacturers and marketers of personal protection and safety equipment products intended for use in the workplace, NSPA has one of the industry’s most extensive lines of products. It includes respiratory equipment; hand, hearing, eye, head and face protection; protective clothing and footwear,” explains Van Rensburg.

North Safety’s product range spans a broad range of the safety equipment market. Firstly, there is the respiratory product line – one of the broadest in the industry. It includes disposable, moulded, folded, reusable masks and face-pieces, filtration cartridges and airline respirators. The height safety range comprises safety belts, harnesses, fall arrest systems, self-retracting cable lifelines and rescue devices.

NSPA is very strong in hand protection. “We focus on PVC gloves for the mining sector, cotton gloves for the vehicle assembly market and our EN range of PVC gloves. The international trend of doing away with leather gloves has taken off in SA with more customers using the Ninja range of palm dipped gloves in stead of the old cumbersome and uncomfortable leather glove,” says Van Rensburg.

Hearing and eye protection are two other fortes. The company distributes reusable bands, detachable plugs, disposable plugs, PU plugs and earmuffs, and eye protection for both mining and industry (the latest range includes 4A coatings – anti-fog, anti-UV, anti-scratch and anti-static – on 95% of products).

In addition, NSPA has recently invested in a clothing manufacturing plant where an exclusive range of North apparel is manufactured. This adds to the range of North branded products, which also includes head and face protection (safety helmets and visors made to SABS standards), clothing (Numo jackets, furnace coats, leather garments, mining jackets and trousers) and footwear (Rebel, Bova, Le Maitre and Bata brands).
