OSH Expo draws near
Specialised Events and UBM Montgomery are once again gearing up for a spectacular showcase of the latest in occupational health and safety, as the 2014 edition of OSH Expo Africa draws nearer. The expo is scheduled to take place from May 13 to 15, at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand, and will once again be co-located with the International Fire and Security Exhibition and Conference (IFSEC).
Joshua Low, event director at UBM Montgomery, explains that OSH Expo Africa is the premier occupational health and safety exhibition on the African continent.
“Now, more than ever, there is increasing pressure to make sure that we understand the occupational safety requirements of government and our staff and that we have the right measures in place and the right equipment available to comply with these demands,” says Low, making reference to the 400 on-site injuries and 150 fatalities recorded by the department of labour in the last year.
“OSH Expo exhibitors provide visitors with the opportunity to talk to occupational health and safety specialists, who are geared towards bringing companies in line with the necessary legislation to ensure compliance. Interactive demonstration sessions further allow visitors to personally experience the benefits of each product and to select the right equipment for various on-site tasks,” he says.
As a little teaser, Low points out that a number of new products will tantalise visitors – including solutions to temporarily prevent access to push buttons or emergency-stop buttons, in order to increase safety during machine maintenance; spectacles for dirty or windy environments and working at dusk, at night time or in no-light conditions; and disinfectant products that eliminate and irradiate most virus spores, fungi and bacteria.
At OSH Expo 2014 a host of seminars will be run throughout the event by Noshebo and Sapema. The Institution for Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) will, once again, also be running a conference alongside the OSH event.
Visitors may pre-register for the show on the OSH Expo Africa website.
