Neptun gets Strident

Neptun gets Strident

Neptun Boot was established in 1977 to supply high-quality PVC gumboots to general industry, with a focus on the agricultural sector. Over the years the business has grown and developed to become the leading gumboot manufacturer in southern Africa.

In 2015 Neptun further expanded its product offering by launching the Strident metal-free, dual-density PU safety boot with a textile upper. This boot was designed specifically for the harsh mining conditions in South Africa where the traditional leather alternatives were failing after just a few months.

Strident is available with a composite toe-cap and an anti-penetrative textile midsole. In addition, it is also available in shoe and combat boot versions to serve a wider range of industries where the user demands the highest levels of durability and comfort.

The Strident range follows the company’s success with the Shosholoza mining gumboot which, when launched in 2005, won a design award from the Design Institute of South Africa. At the time it revolutionised the mining gumboot industry by introducing patented ankle and metatarsal protection as well as bringing shoe comfort levels to a gumboot.

Further capitalising on the success of the metatarsal protection offered in the Shosholoza Metaguard gumboot, Neptun developed and launched the Stimela XP boot in 2013. It is the world’s first metal-free, heavy-duty mining boot with an integral metatarsal protector and has been patented globally.

All of Neptun’s safety products are certified as EN 20345 and SANS 20345 compliant.
