Mining contractor achieves accident-free year
Canadian mining giant Redpath recently achieved a milestone of 400 accident-free days at Gold Fields’ South Deep Mine, situated 45 kilometres southwest of Johannesburg.
“We are justly proud to have this achievement behind our name,” says Redpath SHEQ manager Lionel Ingram.
Redpath has ISO 9001 quality control management, 180001 health and safety management and ISO 14001 environmental management accreditation – all combined into one system, making auditing time efficient and cost effective.
“Our success at South Deep is due to the highly trained individuals involved on the site,” says Ingram. “They are competent, disciplined and work within the confines of the standards we have set – without these values, we would not be able to achieve our safety vision, which we are constantly working to improve.”
