Give your crane a brain

Konecranes has over 50 years experience with heavy duty lifting applications, earning the business a solid reputation for providing solutions and services that enhance the productivity of lifting equipment.
The company is particularly renowned for the service reliability and versatility of its CXT rope hoists and its latest Intelligent CXT wire-rope hoists significantly improve the productivity, safety and service life of cranes – enhancing the intelligence of the operation in a safe manner.
Reliability is one of the most important features of a wire-rope hoist. The new Intelligent CXT hoists provide excellent durability and the highest reliability levels in day-to-day operation, ensuring the safest lifting of heavy loads.
When crane drivers have only one or two speeds for lifting and lowering, the current peaks and numerous changeovers can result in wear-and-tear and high energy consumption, which can also present safety hazards. In a situation such as this seamless and adjustable hoisting speeds provide better operating comfort, increased productivity and service life, as well as reduced energy consumption.
Conventional frequency converters require an elaborate equipping of the crane which can be costly. To overcome this, Konecranes has developed two converters with Adaptive Speed Range/Adaptive Hoisting Speed (ASR) and Extended Speed Range/Extended Hoisting Speed (ESR) that enable advanced solutions for smooth manoeuvring.
In heavy process cranes, trolley and crane travelling and lifting and lowering are seamless and adjustable controls are often used. Light industrial cranes on the other hand, are not so well equipped. Since most lighter industrial cranes still have the conventional control with only two-speed hoisting, Konecranes has developed two new converters for hoisting with ASR and ESR.
The ASR technology provides seamless control of the hoisting speed. Owing to the optimised model sizes of the components, the ASR technology does not require any elaborate electrical equipping of the crane – solving a major safety hazard.
The ESR technology offers extremely fast hoisting speeds using more powerful engines, providing an extended speed range. When operating with the maximum load, the hoisting speed with ESR is automatically two thirds of the maximum hoisting speed.
Both models have varied uses because of their intelligent operation. They can save time and increase productivity and the smooth speed acceleration provided by the converter minimises strain on the crane bridge, crane runway and crane building, while at the same time preventing current peaks. This ensures a longer lifetime, lower energy consumption and less maintenance costs.
The crane driver can freely concentrate on safe operating because the hoisting speed is monitored by the frequency converter according to the load.
