Focus on construction safety at OSH Expo Africa

Focus on construction safety at OSH Expo Africa

As more construction and building projects are fast tracked, the emphasis on complying with building health and safety regulations becomes a priority. This year’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Expo Africa targets exhibits on health and safety products and services for the construction industry.

“According to the latest government statistics, hand injuries account for 15 to 20 percent of all scaffolding-related injuries,” says UBM Montgomery, event organiser of OSH Expo Africa.

This is why Aludar’s HexArmor, a purpose-built personal protective equipment manufacturer, will showcase its Superfabric technology along with ITS IR-X back-of-hand protection, which provides construction workers with protection from hand injuries.

Also exhibiting its latest development in health and safety is the Health and Safety Professionals (HSP) Group. Its newly developed, locally-made disinfectant product is eco-friendly and eliminates 99,9 percent of all viruses, fungi, spores and bacteria. The HSP Group provides a number of OHS services to the construction industry.

“We understand that time is money and construction projects are faced with tight deadlines and production bonuses. In order to ensure that they comply with Department of Labour OHS legislation, we suggest that construction companies add the OSH Expo Africa event to their annual calendar,” explains Joshua Low, event director at UBM Montgomery.
