A-OSH Expo 2017 in review

More than 2 500 visitors from 21 different countries attended another hugely successful three-day A-OSH Expo, between May 30 and June 1.
John Sterley, event director at Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, the organising company of the show, says: “A-OSH Expo provides a platform for the local occupational health and safety (OHS) sector to source new products and services, and also allows for networking between peers and discussions with the industry’s key associations. The list of what was covered at A-OSH 2017 just goes on and on and the quality of A-OSH Expo continues to go from strength to strength.
“The free-to-attend National Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Board (NOSHEBO) Seminar Theatre, sponsored by BBF Safety Group, and the PASMA Working at Height Theatre both proved to be extremely popular; with packed-to-capacity sessions taking place throughout the expo. Delegates commented favourably on the quality of the speakers and the demonstrations.”
Sterley adds: “Of our 80 exhibitors, 14 were new to A-OSH this year and we had some outstanding competitions and special offers available at the expo, including in the arenas of first-aid training and occupational skin care and medical products. It is also very pleasing to see how A-OSH Expo is so highly rated by visitors from so many countries outside South Africa, making it an offering of truly international standing.”
Of the 2 636 visitors who attended A-OSH 2017, almost three quarters were those who make or influence purchasing decisions in their jobs, while one in five were MDs of businesses. “Around four in every 10 visitors fell into the millennial age bracket, representing tomorrow’s decision makers and influencers,” adds Sterley.
He concludes: “We look forward to hosting A-OSH Expo 2018, from May 22 to 24, and invite those in the industry to mark their calendars now. Attending or having a presence at the show will allow you to be informed with the most up-to-date information as well as generate leads, make sales, extend your reach and reinforce your current customer relationships. There is absolutely no doubt that A-OSH Expo has become an essential addition to the African OHS sector’s annual calendar.”
